Organizing my desk

I've been trying to figure out the best way to get my desk organized before I have it all finalized on how this basement office is set up. I think I like the current sort of G shape that the desks are making, where I have a U work area with a small section that jogs into it on one end. Now I just have to get things to a point that my monitor and keyboard are in good places for me to see what I am doing and set up my laptop where I can move work between it and the main computer more easily. I also need to keep the layout board for storyboarding my novels and put up shelves for my writing books.
