Business Plan Breakdown - Define your Company

What is your company? What do you sell? Why are you in this particular business? Spend a few minutes thinking about these questions and your answers to them, try to decide if your answers are good enough reasons to be in the business you are in or if maybe you are in a business that does not particularly appeal to you.

It is important, when you are in business, to be doing something that you love to do. If you wake up in the morning and groan about having to do something, then it is not going to be a good business. If you do not love to work on cars, you don't want to start up a mechanics shop. If you cringe when you see a number, forget that job as an accountant. Decide what motivates you to be in business, in that particular business, and write it down. Also write down what you see as being a part of that business.

If you are a mechanic, what kind? Do you work only on a certain make and model of car? Do you only work on older or only newer cars? Pickups only? Are you just into the engine stuff or do you do body work? How about painting? Installation of stereos and alarm systems?
