Capella University

The following blog post is based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com.

We work at home, so why should we not be able to take accredited university courses from home as well? With Capella University you can.

Since 1993, Capella University has helped students learn when and where they desire, with over 100 graduate and undergraduate specializations and 15 certificate programs. The online university offers the same courses that would get you a traditional brick and mortar school mba, without the hassle of having to attend courses in a traditional school. Instead you can relax and take your courses online, from anywhere you can get Internet access and at any time that is convenient to you.

You can find out more about Capella University, and what it is like to take courses online, by watching the podcasts that Capella University has at www.capellacommons.com or at iTunes. These are roughly 15 minute podcasts that feature students, faculty and staff interviews - such as the one that features an interview with Beverly Enns, Capella’s faculty chair for reading and literacy.

2008 Stimulus Incentives to Businesses

An article at the IRS website discusses the initiatives that the IRS offers to small businesses as part of the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. Among the incentives is a special 50-percent depreciation allowance for equipment that was purchased after December 31 2007 and before January 1 2009.

You can find out more about this special incentive at the IRS website at the link above, or I will be looking more into this when I get my desktop computer back and will post whatever I discover here.

Book binding press

One of my nephews helped me get the board that I need and get it cut (adorable how that don't realize Aunt Sandy has her own table saw and drill and all that jazz and knows how to use them ;-) ), anyway, he helped me get it cut and drilled the needed holes in it to make my book press for me so that I can get to work on the hand bound books that I want to make for selling to try and raise funds to help save my parents' house. I definitely want to start hand binding my own books as a second job, I love bookbinding just too much not to enjoy that as a home based business.

Second job?

I'm considering starting up a second business, I just have to decide what it will be. I have to come up with money to save my parent's house, and the only way I am going to be able to pull that off is going to be to work my backside off - so, I have been thinking about turning my doll crafting and OOAK skills, bookbinding, and maybe even quilting to the effort of saving my parent's house.
